QUESTIONS
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT COMING TO OUR CLINIC.
-
YES! We don’t “just treat kids”, we welcome patients of all ages! Whether it’s a sports injury, a motor vehicle accident, or even post-surgery, we love to work with adults and seniors too. But fair warning, we plan to make your treatment just as fun!

We offer physiotherapy for many different types of conditions. For example, low back pain, sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and neurological conditions are all commonly treated at our clinic. For our pediatric clients, in addition to all those listed above, we also treat infant torticollis, head shape, and developmental concerns amongst other things. No matter what your diagnosis, we've got you covered!
-
Our clinics offer fee-for-service, private sessions (with the exception of physician visits which are AHS funded). However, depending on your diagnosis and your situation, there may be a variety of different funding options available including private benefits, FSCD, and MVA funding. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer AHS funded physiotherapy visits at this time, however we would be happy to help those who meet AHS funding criteria find a clinic nearby that can help. Please contact our office to discuss what options are best for you!

We require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. You may cancel or reschedule appointments via our online booking system (allowable up to 24 hours prior to your appointment), via phone message to 780-466-8676 or by sending us an email at info@summersidephysio.ca. We will honor phone messages and emails sent 24 hours prior to a Monday appointment over the weekend. No shows, rescheduling or late cancellations for any reason, including but not limited to illness, within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged a $25 fee. This charge cannot be billed to insurance providers and must be paid before booking your next visit. For illness or COVID-related issues restricting in-person attendance, you may switch to a virtual visit to continue your care and to avoid a late cancellation fee.
-
In most cases, Extended Health Benefit plans offer either direct billing, or allow us to bill on your behalf. Some plans cover physiotherapy treatment but have the patient pay directly and submit receipts to the insurance company for reimbursement. If you are unsure whether or not your plan will cover your visit, it is best to reach out to your benefits provider. If we are unable to direct bill for any reason, you will be responsible for the cost of your visits.
-
In most cases, we book appointment times long enough to give you more time One-on-One with our therapists. Your initial visit at our clinic (or Assessment) will be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Expect your follow up visits (or Treatments) to be anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Please bring your Alberta Health Care number, any information you have regarding your condition (including Dr notes, Xray reports, etc), and any information needed to help submit your claim such as Extended Health Benefit cards, claim numbers, and Adjuster contact info (if applicable). In addition, you may want to bring comfortable clothes such as shorts or Tshirts to change into, but don't worry, we have some here if you forget.
